The Cayman Islands Veterinary Medical Association (CIVMA) is pleased to announce that it will be hosting the 28th Biennial Caribbean Veterinary Medical Association (CbVMA) Conference to be held November 4-7, 2014 at the Marriott Beach Resort located on Seven Mile Beach. This event is the premier meeting venue for veterinarians of the Caribbean with additional attendees from other countries, including the United States.
The 4th Meeting of the CaribVET ticks and Tick-borne diseases working group will be organized jointly with the second meeting of the "ResisT" project "Assessment of Ticks Resistance to Acaricides in the Caribbean - Development of strategies to improve surveillance and control of tick-borne diseases in ruminants"

The Ticks and Tick borne diseases working group is going to convene a virtual meeting to update the action plan of the ResisT project, most especially provide updates on the following:
- The regional Survey on Tick borne diseases and acaricide use to finalize the questionnaire in group.
- Passive Surveillance of heartwater that will be implemented in several Caribbean islands

The Coordination Unit will meet to update the Action plan for the CaribVET response on PED emergence.
The 9th Epigroup meeting will be held in Barbados during the OIE Regional Commission for the Americas.
Provisional Agenda and participants will be available soon.
The 21st OIE Regional Commission for the Americas will be held next November in Barbados.
The thematic debates will focus on issues of relevance for the region such as "Disaster management: the role and preparedness of Veterinary Services " and "Innovative strategies for strengthening regional animal health networks".
