Diseases of interest

Rabies, Avian Salmonellosis and Leptospirosis

 General objective

Support regional activities and contribute to the harmonization of control protocols and strategies to minimize the occurrence of animal diseases of public health importance in the region: Rabies, Salmonellosis, Leptospirosis and others as necessary.

Specific objectives

i. Support related regional activities and provide a regional expertise

ii. Develop harmonized regional disease control protocols and strategies

iii. Strengthen the regional database to include specifically the identification and determination of rabies variants, circulating Salmonella serotypes and Leptospire serovars

iv. Contribute to the improvement of diagnostic capabilities (training, inter-laboratories assays)

v. Encourage the development of regional emergency plans as it pertains to priority diseases.

vi. Identify areas for the development of research and projects in the Caribbean

 Main activities

- Update the rabies situation in the Caribbean
