The first Caribbean inter-laboratory comparison test for classical swine fever (CSF) diagnosis aimed at:

    1) verifying the quality of CSF diagnosis in the veterinary diagnostic laboratories of the three CSF infected islands of the Caribbean (Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic)

    2) increasing communication between these laboratories, and

    3) paving the way towards a routine assurance quality procedure and an eventual reference laboratory for the Caribbean

This project was funded by the Fonds de Coopération Régionale (FCR) of Guadeloupe and organized by CIRAD, EMVT Department in Guadeloupe. The samples were prepared by the European Community Reference Laboratory for CSF in Hanover, Germany and shipped in April 2005. The results restitution workshop took place at CENSA (Centro Nacional de Sanidad Agropecuaria) in Havana, Cuba, on May 30, 2005.
