What has to be accomplished in 2011
- Finish the development of the conceptual framework for risk analysis of Teschovirus introduction for practical use by countries
- Review the Haiti/DR bi-national CSF program.
- Determine participants to the inter-laboratory assays in 2011
- Define the objectives of the Seaport/airport questionnaire: and determine the information can be collected.
- Conduct training under the FAO TCP H1N1 in laboratory diagnostics. Assure the participation of SD WG members in the planning of swine diseases diagnosis training by CENSA for the CaribVET members.
- Haiti and DR to work together on Teschen scientific publication
- Develop a draft document on the Teschen study results
Communication: The group will try to use conference calls or GoToMeeting (web-based facility) once every 3 months in order to optimize the work between annual meetings. The first meeting date will be announced by E-mail (by early September).

Next meeting of the Swine Disease working group Cedric Lazarus proposed Bahamas as the next venue of the meeting and will make contact with the CVO.

Next year’s issues
- Define common problems in backyard pigs and dedicate backyard issues as a new focus for the next meeting.
- Revision of control programs in the affected countries (vaccination/protocols/ cold chain issues, diagnostic…)
- Initiate, establish or revise CSF surveillance programs in Caribbean countries (Guyana, Jamaica, Belize, Bahamas, and Suriname).
- Use of the conceptual framework for risk analysis on the introduction of Teschovirus into countries considered under threat in CaribVET and provide feedback to the group (gaps observed, actions taken, results ...).
