St John's, Antigua

The second steering committee of CaribVET was held May the 2, and 3 2007 in St John' s, ANTIGUA and BARBUDA, in the presence of the chief veterinary officers or their representatives of all countries and territories of the region, except the Bahamas.

According to the orientations laid down during the preceding meeting, this steering committee was held jointly with the CARICOM CVOs meeting (May, 3 and 4).

The first steering committee of CaribVET held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, in April 2006, validated the new institutional organisation of the regional network and the principle of an annual meeting of its steering committee. The annual steering committee aims to give a progress report on the activities of CaribVET during the past year, to validate the activities of the network for the year to follow and lay down the general orientations regarding the network.

A specific objective was set for this year: to work on performance indicators for animal disease surveillance systems, in general, and for Avian Influenza, in particular.
